This drawing was commissioned from the artist for publicastion in the Town of Geneva's concerts and events programme for the year 1963-64 and was published again on the Museum of Art and History web pages in February 2014.

It is the portrait of the French writer and historian Michelet depicted with a 'little' women or a female figure drawn in a somewhat disproportionately smaller scale to that of the figure of Michelet; possibly indicating the author's view of females. He wrote 'La Femme' (1858) in what has been described as a lyrical style that both idealises women while infantilizing them.

Dora Piemontesi was probably with him and been asked by him to take the photo on his camera (Nikon).

Illustration from an original drawing showing a model wearing an elegant day suit with double lepels and a jacket flaunced on the hips with the pockets sewn on the bias. She is standing against an "Agnes Drecoll" boutique window. In the background the famous column of the Place Vendôme in Paris is clearly drawn with buildings and parked cars etc. to identify the precise location at the end of the Second World War when after the Liberation of Paris, the famous Couture boutiques were able to operate unhindered by war. There is a photograph of a model posing in front of the column in this very location by Lee Miller taken just after the Liberation of Paris in 1944. Miller's photo shows the bullet holes marks in the boutique window, while Descombes' shows cars parked in la Place and a 'relaxed, pedestrian passing by, looking admiringly at the model indicating a return to 'normality' post war.
